As a business you have a duty of care to ensure that any commercial waste is disposed of responsibly. Depending where you live in the UK you may also need to register premises which hold or produce over 500kg of hazardous waste annually.
If your business produces hazardous waste you must keep it separate from any other type of hazardous or non-hazardous waste to ensure compliance with relevant UK hazardous waste regulations.
All potentially dangerous waste should be stored safely and securely in suitable containers which are labelled clearly.
If you’re storing hazardous waste it is essential that you must keep up-to-date records about it and its storage as well as regularly carry out risk assessments and display clear written instructions for storing and disposing of it.
